Top 3 Reasons to Get Invisalign® for Your Teen

Top 3 Reasons to Get Invisalign® for Your Teen

Because there’s so much going on in your teenager’s life, choosing orthodontic treatments shouldn’t be an additional hassle. Invisalign® has it all when it comes down to treating teeth that are overcrowded, have gaps, or a misaligned bite.

We provide this treatment for teens at our Midtown East, Manhattan, office. Here are the top three reasons why Kenn Kokosian, DDS, PhD at DentAlign NYC suggests Invisalign Teen® for your teenager.

1. Invisalign is a discreet and effective treatment

Effectiveness is always a top priority for parents when it comes to choosing an orthodontic treatment. On the other hand, your teen might claim discretion as their top priority. Fortunately, when it comes to Invisalign, it’s the perfect fusion of subtlety and efficiency.

Because each BPA-free tray is clear and there’s no wires or metal brackets involved, your teen can feel confident when it comes down to showing off their smile.

However, just because there’s a lack of wires doesn’t mean that you won’t see definitive results. Invisalign treatments are made to address orthodontic issues such as gaps in teeth or crowding just like traditional braces.

In addition, this orthodontic treatment can be proactive too. Invisalign can be designed to fix a class II malocclusion in teens. Correcting malocclusion, or a bad bite, prevents future complications from developing like jaw pain (TMJ disorder) and difficulty eating or chewing.

The best part? Your teen won’t have to spend their entire high school career in braces. While traditional braces usually take about two years to show desired results, Invisalign treatments take much less time. Depending on the severity of orthodontic issues, the average Invisalign treatment takes only 9-15 months.

2. Invisalign is more comfortable

Traditional metal braces are well-known for causing sores, lacerations, or even blisters in your mouth from all the hardware in addition to needing a mostly liquid diet after getting an adjustment.

In contrast, straightening your teeth with Invisalign is a much more comfortable process. The trays themselves are created from SmartTrack®, which is a patented thermoplastic material only used by Invisalign. Each tray is hand-trimmed to custom-fit your teen’s gums, and this will up the comfort level. Because the trays are so smooth, it also eliminates the risk of any lacerations or mouth sores.

Your teen can also rest assured that they can participate in all their school activities in comfort without worrying about causing damage to any metal hardware.

Not only are the trays themselves more comfortable, but the adjustment process is also much less painful. Instead of tightening wires, your teen simply replaces an old tray with a new aligner tray. As your child progresses through all their needed trays, their teeth are slowly shifted closer and closer until they meet their desired location.

3. Invisalign treatments are customized

Every teen is different and has unique orthodontic needs, so Invisalign trays aren’t one-size-fits-all. Your teen’s aligner trays are made just for them thanks to advanced 3D imaging. Because we use advanced computer software, the course of your teen’s treatment plan is laid out in its entirety from the beginning.
